Creating Problems
2017
Creating Problems was an experiment driven, studio-based Math/Art experience. Josh Laison, Zech Hazel, Allie Kerkhoff, Peri Hildum, Arthur Stamey-Mills, and I worked together on a series of exploratory mathematical problems and artistic prompts that created common ground, enabled critical conversation and fueled collaboration. As the summer progressed students and faculty developed and completed individual and collaborative projects based in a full spectrum of artistic and mathematical thinking. Participants shared a common workspace, and these projects were critically assessed weekly in a group critique setting. This project was funded by a Mellon Foundation Liberal Arts Research Community Grant. Your can read more about this project here. Artwork made during this grant became part of my larger projects Data Driven and STAT!
