Bodies of Light, 2024
Collaborative Residency and Installation with Courtney Kessel and Danielle Wyckoff at (blankspsace) in Pittsburgh, PA
Courtney Kessel, Danielle Wyckoff, and I are developing collaborative approaches to making and exhibiting artwork grounded in feminist values. Our work considers the many effects of a single gesture—artistic or social—and explores reflection as a metaphor for constantly shifting relationships: with space, with one another, with our families, and with the forces of nature and the unknown.
During a residency at (blankspace) in the week of the 2024 summer solstice, we used an iterative process to create installations that responded to the building’s architecture and the changing qualities of light throughout the day. Language gathered from our ongoing group text thread appears throughout the space as fragments of improvised poetry, tracing connections across distance and time. The installation incorporates collected and repurposed materials from our studios in Ohio, Michigan, and Oregon.
